Dr. Lambert Stumpel is a 1982 graduate from the Royal University of Utrecht, School of Dentistry, the Netherlands. He practiced on the island of Aruba until 1985, after which he was in private practice in Breda, the Netherlands. In 1991, he relocated to his present home of San Francisco. He is the former (1992-2006) director of Implant Prosthetics, Oral & Maxillofacial Residency Program, University of the Pacific, San Francisco, CA. In additional, he maintains an assistant professorship at the University of California at San Francisco, School of Dentistry. He is the holder of two patents for implant-related dental devices; has authored over 20 scientific publications; and is a frequent lecturer. Dr. Stumpel maintains a private practice in San Francisco, CA.

Description:

Guided surgery holds the promise to place dental implants in predetermined positions; allowing many clinical decisions to be made before the actual surgical procedure.
Computer guided surgery has been made possible through the increased accessibility of (CB) CT technology. It allows clinicians who do not have the experience of placing 1000+ implants per year, to deliver, in selected cases, the same superior care as the master surgeons.
Model based guided surgery has historically been in the shadow of its high tech cousin; until now. The 3 D Click Guide is a modularly adjustable surgical guide system. While primarily a model based system, utilizing minimally invasive bone sounding, it allows easy integration with CBCT as needed. It’s simple, safe and affordable and in such a gateway between freehand and computer guided surgery.
